Delta pulls Istanbul service from JFK

NEW YORK — Delta Air Lines has suspended its Istanbul service from New York’s JFK Airport, citing increased security concerns.

The airline was scheduled to begin its seasonal summer service to Istanbul in May.

Delta also said it was seeing weaker demand in the market, according to TravelMole.

Earlier this month the U.S. Department of State issued a warning for travel to Turkey, based on increased threats from terrorist groups throughout Turkey and including a caution to U.S. citizens to avoid travel to southeastern Turkey: “Foreign and U.S. tourists have been explicitly targeted by international and indigenous terrorist organizations.  U.S. citizens are reminded to review personal security plans and remain vigilant at all times.”
