LOS ANGELES — Viking has opened bookings for its 2028-2029 ocean voyages, with more than 700 new departure dates across 80 voyages spanning 301 ports in 84 countries and six continents.
The new deployment is the cruise line’s largest ocean programme to date and includes sailings aboard its small-ship fleet, including the Viking Vega and Viking Leda, scheduled to enter service in 2028 and 2029 respectively.
The expanded programme also introduces two new itineraries: ‘Alaskan Fjords & the Inside Passage’ and ‘Mediterranean, Malta & North Africa’. Additional departures have also been added for the Japan Discovery itinerary.

NEW ITINERARIES
The 2028-2029 programme covers the Mediterranean, Northern Europe, Alaska, Asia, Australia and New Zealand, the Caribbean, South America and the Panama Canal. Voyages range from eight days to extended World Voyages, with itineraries that can be combined for longer journeys.
The new 15-day Alaskan Fjords & the Inside Passage itinerary sails between Vancouver and Whittier, exploring Alaska’s Inside Passage and fjords. Highlights include opportunities for kayaking and hiking as well as encounters with local Tlingit hosts.
The 16-day Mediterranean, Malta & North Africa itinerary operates roundtrip from Rome. The voyage visits Valletta, North Africa, Andalusia, Provence and Corsica, with highlights including the UNESCO-listed Alhambra Palace.
The 15-day Japan Discovery itinerary sails roundtrip from Tokyo, circumnavigating Japan and crossing the Sea of Japan to the southeast tip of the Korean Peninsula. Ports include Niigata, Hakata (Fukuoka), Sapporo and Shimizu, with an overnight stay in Shimizu.
TWO NEW SHIPS
The Viking Vega and Viking Leda are currently scheduled to join Viking’s ocean fleet in 2028 and 2029 respectively.
Like the rest of Viking’s ocean fleet, both ships will be classified as small ships. Each will measure 54,300 gross tons and accommodate 998 guests in 499 staterooms.
The ships will feature all-veranda staterooms, Scandinavian-inspired design, light-filled public spaces and multiple al fresco dining options.
ANNIVERSARY SALE
Viking is also offering an Anniversary Sale through Aug. 31, 2026 for North American travellers.
The promotion includes reduced fares and up to free international airfare on select all-inclusive river, ocean and expedition itineraries, along with a US$25 deposit on all itineraries.
