TORONTO — Polar Latitudes Expeditions has unveiled its 2028 Arctic season, featuring a lineup of small-ship expedition cruises across Svalbard, Greenland, Iceland, Jan Mayen and Arctic Norway.
The 2028 program includes a range of itineraries aboard the company’s purpose-built polar vessels, from week-long Svalbard expeditions to longer voyages that combine multiple Arctic destinations. The season is designed to appeal to both first-time Arctic travellers and returning guests looking to explore more remote regions.
NEW ITINERARY JOINS ARCTIC FAVOURITES
Among the highlights is a new itinerary, ‘Norway’s Wild North: Lofoten to Svalbard,’ which takes guests from the mountain landscapes of Norway’s Lofoten Islands to the High Arctic wilderness of Svalbard.
The company’s popular Svalbard voyages also return, including the eight-day ‘North to the Midnight Sun expedition,’ which focuses on spotting wildlife such as polar bears, walruses and seabirds, and the 10-day ‘Svalbard Circumnavigation,’ which explores the entire archipelago from its southern fjords to the polar deserts of Hinlopen Strait.
In Greenland, the 12-day ‘Greenland Explorer’ follows the historic Norse Sea route through East, South and West Greenland, while the eight-day ‘Disko Bay & Beyond’ itinerary visits the UNESCO-listed Ilulissat Icefjord.
Travellers seeking a broader Arctic experience can choose the 13-day ‘Four Arctic Island’ itinerary, which combines Iceland, Greenland, Jan Mayen and Svalbard. The voyage operates in both northbound and southbound directions between Reykjavík and Longyearbyen.
EXPEDITION FLEET
The 2028 Arctic season will operate aboard the X-BOW expedition ships Ocean Albatros and Ocean Victory. Polar Latitudes says additional departures aboard its newest vessel, Discoverer, will be announced at a later date.
Each sailing is led by an expedition team and operated in accordance with the Association of Arctic Expedition Cruise Operators (AECO) guidelines. Guests can also participate in optional kayaking, photography and citizen science programs designed to provide a more immersive Arctic experience.
