CIE Tours launches first-ever River Cruise Collection

MORRISTOWN, NJ — CIE Tours is expanding – all the way to the river – with its first-ever River Cruise Collection featuring sailings on the Rhine and Danube.

The new cruise itineraries, says the company, are an important milestone, enabling its loyal guests to experience new destinations in a new way. Eight-day itineraries include a one-way ‘Rhine Cruise to Switzerland’, travelling from Cologne to Basel, and a roundtrip ‘The Blue Danube’ from Budapest to Linz and back.

CIE’s strategic expansion began last year with the introduction of guided vacations in Iceland and Italy. Now, with the new river cruises, it has added sought-after destinations in five more European countries: Austria, Germany, France, Switzerland and Hungary.

To entice clients to book, the company is giving North American travellers a Can$300 air credit per couple when they reserve a 2020 river cruise by Sept. 30, 2019.

Rhine Cruise to Switzerland

This eight-day voyage, priced from $3,470 per person, sails from Cologne and includes stops in Koblenz, Rüdesheim, Speyer, Strasbourg, Breisach, Titisee, Lucerne and Basel. Guests will also enjoy a special Captain’s Dinner that showcases regional specialties.

The Blue Danube

This eight-day voyage, priced from $2,027 per person, takes guests through three historic capitals – Budapest, Bratislava and Vienna – as it winds its way to Linz and back. Highlights include an optional guided walking tour of Salzburg and a private recital by a Viennese string quartet.

Both cruises include an English-speaking crew, spacious suites with en-suite bathrooms and river views, in-cabin tea and coffee, onboard dining, Wi-Fi throughout the ship, daily excursions, port charges and airport tax. Other on-ship amenities include optional massages, steam and sauna, a nail and hair salon, fitness room and a heated sun-deck plunge pool.
