Caught on video: Ryanair flight attendant tells passengers “We don’t want to die”

Flight attendants are known for being calm, cool and collected at all times and for putting passengers’ fears at ease. So when a video surfaces online that captures a Ryanair flight attendant saying “we don’t want to die,” it’s considered more than a little shocking.

Flight FR5773 from Glasgow to Dublin was one of many flights across the U.K. that were either grounded or delayed due to recent snowstorms, reports The Daily Record. The plane is still on the runway when the flight attendant announces over the intercom that they are unable to take off because “we have ice on the wing” and is clearly overheard saying “we don’t want to die!”

The off-the-cuff remark is presumably meant to lighten the atmosphere, although passengers reacted with outrage and shock.

Head of Communications for Ryanair, Robin Keily, said: “We will be speaking to the crew member involved and apologize for the regrettable comment she made in the heat of the moment.”
