Cancun’s Sun Palace reopens following major renovation

MIAMI — Palace Resorts’ Sun Palace has completed its multimillion-dollar renovation, featuring redesigned guest suites and new luxury dining options on the shores of Cancun.

Located 35 minutes from Cancun International Airport, the newly transformed, adults-only resort has officially reopened after undergoing extensive improvements to its interiors and exteriors. According to Claudia Ferreiro of the design team, the new design aimed to bring the outside world in through ample lighting and natural materials.

“Our goal was to make guests feel relaxed and Zen,” she said. “The new look includes natural stone, marble and wood sourced locally from the region, alluding to the richness and beauty of the environment.”

After 13 years of continued success, we felt it was time to modernize and revamp this property to ensure it meets the demands and likes of our guests and continues to be in a caliber all its own.”

ROOMS & SUITES

The interiors of the 247 rooms and suites were completely redesigned with a neutral colour palette. Most suites feature ocean views, while all suites feature private balconies, comfortable living spaces, new king-size beds, double whirlpool tubs and oversized bathrooms with luxury amenities. Other in-room amenities include a nightly aromatherapy menu, stocked minibars with top-shelf spirits and snacks, gourmet Lavazza coffee makers, high-definition flatscreen SMART TVs and complimentary Wi-Fi.

 

CULINARY

All of the existing restaurants have been revamped with new décor, upgraded menus and new dining concepts. New restaurant options include: Fuego, a Brazilian-style steakhouse; Tratto, the brainchild of Michelin-star chef Giuseppe Lannotti; Thai, offering an eclectic fusion of traditional and modern Thai cuisine; and Aurora, featuring a fusion of contemporary and traditional Mexican cuisine.

Guests can also enjoy high-end mixology at the resort’s bars, as well as live music and DJ lineups at the lobby bar.

MEETING SPACE

Sun Palace features more than 3,318 square feet of space for corporate and social events. Upgrades to these facilities include new décor, new carpeting, upgraded wooden doors and flooring, and environmentally-friendly, intelligent controls for lighting, air conditioning and sound. New touch technology controls audio and volume in each room. In addition, the resort offers groups the latest in technology, audio-visual equipment and complimentary Wi-Fi.

 

SPA & WELLNESS

Sun Palace is home to Palace Resorts’ award-winning signature Awe Spa featuring a hydrotherapy area, hot and cold plunge pools, sauna, herbal steam room, chromotherapy, sauna therapy, relaxation lounge and eight treatment suites. Unique services include ancient Mexican treatments such as the symbolic Kukulkan Massage. The spa also features a full-service beauty salon, boutique and fitness center/spinning studio.
