Avalon adds new Suite Ship on Mekong River

TORONTO — Avalon Waterways is venturing deeper into the Far East by adding another Suite Ship on the Mekong River.

The Avalon Saigon comes on the heels of two other new Suite Ships – Avalon Myanmar and Avalon Siem Reap – on the Irrawaddy and Mekong Rivers, which were unveiled in the past two years. On all three ships, guests will find 18 well-appointed Avalon Suites, each with 245 square feet of living space, and signature open-air balconies featuring floor-to-ceiling, wall-to-wall panoramic windows that slide open almost three metres.

In addition to introducing the new Avalon Saigon, the company is also adding a new itinerary in Vietnam and Cambodia. ‘The Heart of Cambodia & Vietnam’ is an 18-day journey through both countries along the Mekong River and includes a two-day cruise of Ha Long Bay.

For guests who wish to extend their vacations, Avalon offers dozens of extension options on both its Mekong and Irrawaddy itineraries. For example, the 13-day ‘Fascinating Vietnam, Cambodia & the Mekong River’ cruise can be extended in Bangkok and/or Luang Prabang, while those who book the 14-day ‘Golden Myanmar & the Alluring Irrawaddy’ can add Bangkok and/or Inle Lake to their vacation.

Avalon’s other exotic cruise offerings in 2018 will include the Yangtze River, the Nile, Amazon River and Galapagos Islands.

Clients who book a 2018 or 2019 river cruise to Southeast Asia by June 6 this year will save up to $2,600 per couple. For solo travellers, Avalon Waterways will waive the single supplement on select Avalon Irrawaddy and Mekong river cruise departures.
