Apply now for River Cruise Summit with Avalon Waterways & ACTA

TORONTO — Applications are now being accepted for the Avalon Waterways’ European River Cruise Summit, in partnership with ACTA.

Taking place in October 2023, the special sailing is open to 134 Canadian travel advisors.

Stéphanie Bishop, managing director for the Globus family of brands, says the opening of the application process means travel advisors are now one step closer to attending this inaugural gathering, for a deep-dive into river cruising.

“Avalon Waterways has redefined cruising by going against the current and away from the ordinary,” says Bishop. “That’s something 134 lucky travel advisors will experience first-hand in October 2023 – on our Suite Ships and through unparalleled excursions in ports – as part of this first-of-its-kind river cruise summit.”

The event was first announced at ACTA’s 2022 Eastern Canada Travel Industry Summit back in September.

Cruising onboard Avalon Vista – one of 14 signature award-winning Suite Ships in Avalon Waterways’ fleet – agents will set sail from Amsterdam for the seven-day ‘Romantic Rhine’ itinerary. Travel advisors will not only have the chance to experience the Avalon difference on ships, says Bishop, they will also have the opportunity to enjoy a choice of ‘Classic,’ ‘Discovery’ and ‘Active’ excursions. Agents will also take part in onboard workshops and special events to ignite inspiration and business opportunities before disembarking in Basel.

As part of the application travel advisors must meet the following criteria as of Dec. 31, 2022…

  • Be (or become) and active ACTA member
  • Complete the Globus family of brands’ advisor training program – GFOB University
  • Complete Air Canada’s advisor training program – GSU

If selected to join this inaugural event, advisors will be sent a full registration form in the new year, at which time a non-refundable deposit (Cdn$250) will be due to confirm space.

Says ACTA President Wendy Paradis: “Recognizing that river cruising is the fastest growing travel option across the globe, it’s clear that the new wave in cruising is on the world’s rivers. Through our first River Cruise Summit with Avalon Waterways, we look forward to providing a great networking opportunity for Canadian travel agents, as well as the chance to learn for themselves why river cruising provides a great opportunity for them to really grow their business.”
