TORONTO — Police investigations are ongoing following a shooting earlier this morning just outside of Toronto Pearson Airportʻs T1 Departures zone.
An update from @TorontoPearson on X said: “Due to a Peel Police investigation outside Terminal 1 departures, passengers and vehicles are being routed to enter and exit through T1 arrivals.”
Later the airport posted: “Please use the roadway to Terminal 1 Arrivals as the roadway to Terminal 1 Departures remains closed for a Peel Police investigation. The parking garage in Terminal 1 remains open. … Passengers can also park at Terminal 3 and the Viscount Station Kiss and Fly lot and take the train to Terminal 1.”
As reported earlier, police and paramedics arrived on the scene after reports of an incident just before 7 a.m.
Ontario’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) is investigating the police-involved shooting, with a 30-year old man shot and taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead. No officers were injured and police say there is no threat to public safety.
The SIU says Peel regional police were investigating a “man in distress” in an SUV at Terminal 1 departures level.
They say early reports indicate the man pulled a firearm.
