Gatwick operational again but passengers should check flight status

LONDON — Flights are now operating in and out of London’s Gatwick Airport after an issue with the air traffic control systems saw the temporary suspension of all flights.

The latest tweet on Gatwick’s Twitter account (@Gatwick_Airport), posted at 7:18 p.m. local time (2:18 p.m. EST), says: “Update 19.10: Following an earlier air traffic control systems issue, flights to and from Gatwick have now resumed.

“If you are travelling this evening please check the status of your flight with your airline before travelling to the airport, as we return to full operations.”

Gatwick first tweeted at 5:47 p.m. local time (12:47 p.m. EST), that it was working with Air Navigation Solutions, its air traffic control provider, to rectify the issue. Flights were suspended for close to two hours.
