Caribbean Airlines launches weekly nonstop Toronto-Tobago service

SCARBOROUGH, TOBAGO — Tobago has welcomed its first nonstop flight from Toronto, giving Canadian travellers a direct route to the Caribbean island just as its new international airport opens.

Caribbean Airlines launched the weekly service on Oct. 25, connecting Toronto Pearson International Airport (YYZ) with A.N.R. Robinson International Airport (TAB). The inaugural departure was marked by a delegation led by Korice A.Q. Nancis, Interim Chief Executive Officer of the Tobago Tourism Agency Limited (TTAL), alongside representatives of the Tobago House of Assembly and the island’s tourism sector.

The new route eliminates the need for Canadian travellers to connect through Trinidad or another Caribbean hub, making Tobago more accessible for winter getaways, extended holidays and visits with family and friends.

“We wanted to create a direct route to paradise for Canadians, and that is exactly what this new service delivers,” said Farley Augustine, Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly. “Canada is an important market for Tobago, and travellers can now fly directly from Toronto and discover an island that still offers the Caribbean the way it used to be: unspoiled, welcoming and full of character.”

Caribbean Airlines operates the route every Sunday, with southbound service on flight BW615 and the return flight on BW614. The flight from Toronto takes approximately five hours and 35 minutes. Schedules and fares are available at www.caribbean-airlines.com.

The new service coincides with the opening of Tobago’s A.N.R. Robinson International Airport in Crown Point, a major investment in the island’s tourism infrastructure. Spanning approximately 25,500 square metres across two storeys, the facility features modern check-in and baggage handling systems, passenger boarding bridges, premium lounges and expanded retail and dining facilities. Designed to accommodate up to three million passengers annually, the airport also incorporates traditional imagery and spaces for local vendors to showcase their products and food.
