LONDON — This year’s Skytrax World Airline Awards has plenty of familiar carriers receiving honours.

The awards, presented this week in London, are based on customer satisfaction surveys, evaluating the quality of airline products and services both onboard and on the ground. More than 24.8 million travellers from 100+ countries take part.

Air Canada was named the Best Airline in North America, for the second year in a row. This is the 10th time Air Canada has received the honour since 2010. Air Canada was also recognized once again for its Toronto Air Canada Signature Suite, as the World’s Best Business Class Lounge Dining for the third straight year. Air Canada took home additional honours for Best Cabin Crew in Canada, Best Economy On Board Catering in North America and Best Business Class Lounge in North America.

Air Canada also moved up two spots and ranks 17th among the World’s Top 100 Airlines in 2026, the only North American carrier to make top 20.

Air Canada celebrates multiple wins at the 2026 Skytrax World Airline Awards in London

Air Transat is flying home with another major win under its belt after being named World’s Best Leisure Airline.

The win marks the eighth time Air Transat has received the title. An Air Transat delegation, including President and Chief Executive Officer Annick Guérard, accepted the award at the Skytrax ceremony.

“Being named the World’s Best Leisure Airline for the eighth time is a tremendous source of pride for Air Transat and, above all, a well-deserved recognition of our teams,” said Guérard. “Every day, they put their expertise, care, and hospitality at the service of our travellers. This distinction reflects their exceptional commitment and their ability to create travel experiences that set us apart, both here and around the world.”

Porter Airlines won Best Regional Airlines in North America.

Air France was named the Best Airline in Western Europe, for the sixth consecutive year. Air France also won the World’s Best First Class Airline award for the first time, recognizing its new La Première suite, unveiled in 2025. Air France also received awards for Best First Class Airline Lounge Dining and Best First Class Airline Comfort Amenities. Air France is also continuing to climb the global rankings, moving up one place compared to 2025, from 8th to 7th place.

“From the very beginning of the new La Première cabin project, we set ourselves one clear objective: to offer the world’s best First Class experience. It took three years to design these suites, which feature five windows for the very first time. Every detail has been carefully considered to offer our customers an experience worthy of a private jet,” said Benjamin Smith, CEO of Air France-KLM and Chair of the Air France Board of Directors.

Lufthansa was number one in the category ‘World’s Best First Class Onboard Dining.’

“This award is about more than recognizing our outstanding cuisine,” said Lufthansa Airlines’ CEO, Jens Ritter. “It shows that our guests are noticing the changes at Lufthansa – and appreciate them. We are modernizing our fleet, renewing our cabins and lounges, continuously developing our services and offering cuisine at a world-leading level.”
