Air Transat to offer Guyana flights ex YYZ, gets nod for Brazil

MONTREAL — Air Transat is expanding its South American network this winter with the launch of a new nonstop route between Toronto Pearson (YYZ) and Georgetown (GEO), the capital of Guyana.

The service will operate twice weekly – on Tuesdays and Fridays – from Dec. 16, 2025, through April 24, 2026.

“With this new route, we are expanding our presence in South America while optimizing the use of our aircraft,” said Sebastian Ponce, Transatʻs Chief Revenue Officer. “This addition meets a strong demand from the Guyanese diaspora in Canada, while also tapping into a growing market and a leisure clientele curious to discover new destinations.”

The route, launched in consultation with both Guyanese and Canadian authorities, is still subject to regulatory approval. Flights are expected to be available for booking in the coming days.

Service will be operated with the Airbus A321LR, a fuel-efficient aircraft featuring ergonomic cabins and an advanced inflight entertainment system. Club Class seating will also be available for travellers seeking a premium onboard experience.

In related news, on May 7 Air Transat received permission from the Canadian Transportation Agency to operate flights to Brazil.

Air Transat plans to unveil the full details of its winter 2025-2026 schedule soon.
