Air Canada’s boosted capacity to Asia, including HK, gets underway

HONG KONG — Air Canada’s expanded schedule between Vancouver and Hong Kong, part of its ramped-up Asia offering, is now operational.

Last month Air Canada announced it was boosting its Asia-Pacific network capacity starting in mid-December and lasting through to the end of the summer.

For Hong Kong, Air Canada will have up to double the daily flights.

As of Dec. 13, 2023 and lasting until Feb. 29, 2024 – to support holiday and Lunar New Year travel – Air Canada now has up to 11 weekly Vancouver-Hong Kong flights in operation. From March 1 until Oct. 26, the number of flights will reduce by only one, to 10 per week.

“Air Canada’s Asia services continue to reflect strong demand and we are boosting capacity to this geographic area as we deploy our international diversification strategy. This winter, we’re pleased to offer up to 57 flights per week between Canada and Asia, and up to 64 flights per week next summer,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning, at Air Canada.

AIR CANADA’S BUSINESS CLASS TO HONG KONG

Travelweek recently had the opportunity to experience Air Canada’s Business Class service on a roundtrip Vancouver – Hong Kong flight, as part of the Hong Kong Connect Fam.

The well-appointed passenger pods in Air Canada’s Business Class cabin have all the necessities required for a comfortable and entertaining voyage, with the seats able to go completely horizontal, and plenty of good shows and movies to watch on the in-flight entertainment system.

Meanwhile the F&B offerings roll out seemingly nonstop and the wide selection of options is a welcome touch. One of the biggest highlights of Air Canada’s Business Class experience to Hong Kong was the extremely attentive staff onboard the flight, who assisted with every request with a big smile to boot.

Passengers who have purchased Air Canada Business Class tickets and are travelling internationally have the opportunity to enjoy the exclusive Air Canada Signature Suite while waiting for flights at YVR and YYZ. It’s only available for those who’ve purchased business class tickets, not for those who’ve upgraded. The suite offers a step up from the Maple Leaf Lounge with an elevated level of service and F&B offerings. A la carte fare, or buffet, awaits clients in enhanced dining settings.

An array of priority airport services can also be enjoyed as part of Air Canada’s Business Class ticket benefits. These services include priority check-in, concierge service, priority security screening, as well as priority boarding in Zone 1 and priority baggage delivery upon arrival.

“We are excited to continue to see our Asia market grow with new routes and added capacity for 2024. This includes our increased frequency to Hong Kong with 11 flights weekly, up-gauge in flights from 787-9 to 777-300ER for Korea, Japan and Shanghai, extended seasonal winter service to Bangkok, earlier start on Vancouver to Osaka and new daily service between Vancouver and Singapore starting in April. Offering a wide selection of services and products catered to our clients needs, our Signature Class product is definitely the ‘fly in style’ selection that enhances the passenger’s overall experience with all the priority benefits and exclusive Signature Suite experience prior to boarding. We continue to thank our loyal Aeroplan members and invite new travellers to join us and allow Air Canada to be part of their next journey,” says Mark Hashimoto, Manager Specialty Sales – Asia for Air Canada.
