MONTREAL — Starting Oct. 15 Air Canada will charge a non-refundable booking fee of $30 plus taxes per passenger to new bookings made by phone with an Air Canada agent through the airline’s contact centre.
The fee is non-refundable and will not be refunded if the ticket or booking is cancelled.
The booking fee applies for each passenger, ie. for a new booking with two passengers, the fee total would be $60 plus taxes. The fee will also continue to apply for Aeroplan flight reward bookings made through the contact centre.
Customers who require specialized care and support, including those with accessibility needs, are exempt. Calls made by passengers whose flights are impacted by delays, cancellations or other travel disruptions won’t incur the fee either.
Air Canada notes there is no fee to book or manage changes through the Air Canada site or the Air Canada App.
The airline’s FAQ for the new policy includes a question about whether or not there’s a booking fee for bookings through travel agencies. “Travel agents establish their own fees and policies. Please contact your travel agent for details about any fees that may apply,” says the airline.
