Air Canada putting the brakes on San Antonio nonstops out of Toronto

MONTREAL — Air Canada is suspending its five times weekly nonstop service between San Antonio and Toronto, as the route did not meet projections.

The last day of operations for the route is scheduled for April 28, 2019.

Air Canada launched the route on May 1, 2017 with daily nonstop service operated by Air Canada Express.

At an April 2017 industry event to mark the new service, Visit San Antonio’s COO Dave Krupinski said Canada is San Antonio’s second largest international market. “We know Canadians love to visit not just in the winter – we affectionately welcome them as ‘Winter Texans’ – but throughout the year,” he said.

San Antonio celebrated its 300th anniversary in 2018 with an event-packed year. The city is home to the River Walk and the Alamo, plus attractions including Six Flags Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld San Antonio.
