Air Canada inaugurates Taipei and Marseille service

MONTREAL — Air Canada is flying high with the inauguration of not one, but two new services out of Montreal and Vancouver.

Yesterday (June 8), the airline inaugurated daily, year-round flights from Vancouver to Taipei, Taiwan, its tenth destination in Asia, with the departure of AC011 following a gate celebration at YVR.

“Air Canada is very pleased to return to Taipei, an important and significant economic centre, as part of our ongoing global expansion,” said Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines at Air Canada. “Our Taipei flights are operated with our state-of-the-art Boeing 787 Dreamliners featuring our industry-leading international services. The strategic addition of these daily year-round flights strengthens our YVR trans-Pacific hub which combined with our extensive North American network, provides convenient options and a competitive elapsed travel time between North America and Taiwan.”

Later that same day, the carrier also kicked off seasonal, three times weekly service to London Gatwick operated by Air Canada Rouge with Boeing 767-300ER aircraft, the fourth European destination served from its YVR hub.

The excitement continues tonight when Air Canada marks the successful launch of its newest route with flight AC1962 out of Montreal. The seasonal, nonstop service between Montreal-Trudeau and Marseille will operate three times a week until Oct. 13 with an Air Canada Rouge Boeing 767-300ER, featuring premium and economy cabins.

“The Marseille service will be the only non-stop flight operated by a network carrier between Marseille and North America further expanding Air Canada’s reach in France by complementing existing services to Paris, Lyon and Nice, and strengthening our presence in Provence-Côte d’Azur, a popular summer destination for Quebecers,” said Benjamin Smith, President, Passenger Airlines at Air Canada. “With conveniently timed connections throughout Canada and the U.S., this new service to Marseille further expands our global reach from Montreal, reinforcing Montreal-Trudeau as a strategic hub for all of Eastern Canada and the North-Eastern U.S.”

So far in 2017, Air Canada has launched new nonstop international flights from Vancouver to Taipei, London Gatwick, Frankfurt and Nagoya; from Toronto to Berlin, Reykjavik and Mumbai; from Montreal to Marseille, Tel Aviv, Reykjavik and Algiers (to begin July 1); and from Vancouver to Melbourne (launching in December).
