One of the newest luxury properties to arrive on Maui, Montage Kapalua Bay opened its doors in June 2014. To learn more about this new island resort, Travelweek spoke with Montage Kapalua Bay to hear about its accommodation options, children’s program, Spa Montage and more.

Travelweek: Montage Kapalua Bay is the newest property in Montage Hotels & Resorts’ portfolio. What can guests look forward to when they come to stay?

Montage Kapalua: The newest offering from Montage Hotels & Resorts, Montage Kapalua Bay is a world-class resort set atop picturesque Kapalua Bay along the shimmering shores on the island of Maui. Combining 50 luxurious residences and six grand residences, the 24-acre resort celebrates the Aloha spirit of Maui, the richness of Hawaiian culture and regional art and artisanship, from architecture and local visual art to culinary and spa offerings.

Travelweek: What sort of accommodation is offered at the resort and what types of amenities are available to guests?

Montage: Montage Kapalua Bay’s 50 luxurious residences and six grand residences range from one to four bedrooms to accommodate all types of travellers with the comforts of home. Each room features large lanais (balconies), with ocean views, to give guests a panoramic of the Pacific Ocean and neighbouring islands, Lanai and Molokai. Refreshed guestrooms include a new, sleek colour palette and furnishings including daybeds on the balconies, which creates a flowing indoor and outdoor entertainment space. All residences are also equipped with full gourmet kitchens should travellers wish to prepare meals during their stay, or simply a space offering the feeling of home where Montage chefs can prepare dinner. Other comforts of home include signature Montage bedding, a sectional sofa with a pullout bed and a washer and dryer. Bringing a bit of the authenticity of the island into the experience, each guest suite will feature an original piece of hand-painted local artwork.
Following a multi-million-dollar improvement, the newly branded Montage Kapalua Bay includes a multi-tiered lagoon pool, Cane & Canoe signature restaurant, Mahana Market, Spa Montage and luxury accommodations featuring spacious living rooms, large private lanais (balconies) and fully equipped gourmet kitchens.

Travelweek: As a family resort, can you tell us more about Montage Kapalua Bay’s children’s program?

Montage: Montage’s Paintbox provides active fun for children ages five to 12. At Paintbox children thrive on cultural and educational activities, such as exploring tide pools, making authentic leis and learning the traditional way to wear a lei. Teens (12-18) enjoy island-inspired activities too, from stand-up paddleboarding and ukulele lessons to authentic Hawaiian cooking classes. And the resort’s onsite photographer can turn every experience into a tangible memento.

For families, Montage Kapalua Bay’s amenities are designed to create memorable experiences that merge the Montage spirit with Hawaii’s own gracious hookipa (hospitality).
