What’s your travel style?

Contiki launched their social media-inspired #mycontiki campaign in February, borrowing from the ever-popular online quiz format that has made BuzzFeed and Mashable so addictive.

The campaign hit 4 different objectives; 1) promoting the different travel styles they have in an engaging way, 2) building up their database by having the contest, 3) getting more promotion through social share and 4) getting agents involved with the ‘surprise and delight’.

Contiki announced they had 25,000 entries and a quick run of the #mycontiki hashtag on keyhole.co shows the social shares has had 363 posts with a 255,383 reach with 1,332,873 impressions. Nicely done Contiki.

The results from the survey showed 41% fell into the Discovery Plus category. Other key trends the brand took away were:

  • 22% still wanted to do icon spotting & discover natural wonders vs. 10% preferring to party at festivals
  • 42% revealed their ideal night would be a few sights, a couple of bites & some great bars
  • Only 8% were interested in partying/clubbing all night long
  • 2% related to Harry Styles & Miley Cyrus and 6% to Rhianna
  • 6% fell into the High Energy travel style
