AmaWaterways suspends remainder of 2020 season

AmaWaterways extends suspension of regularly scheduled cruises

TORONTO — In light of the continuing pandemic, AmaWaterways has extended the suspension of its regularly scheduled river cruises in Europe, Africa and Asia through Nov. 15, 2020.

According to President and Co-founder Rudi Schreiner, the decision was made in response to ongoing travel restrictions affecting travellers in Canada and the U.S., who make up 95% of AmaWaterways’ guests.

“We continue to monitor government and health authorities, including European Union restrictions which are updated every two weeks,” he says. “Our ships and crew remain on standby to welcome travellers on our regular scheduled sailings once these restrictions are lifted.”

Schreiner adds that the cruise line is in the process of contacting all travel agents with clients affected by this new suspension date, providing them with options best suited to their clients’ needs.

This latest suspension does not apply to the series of chartered Rhine sailings that was launched in July in collaboration with German tour operator e-hoi. Due to the success of these sailings and positive feedback from German-speaking guests about enhanced health and safety protocols, e-hoi has extended its sailing schedule through the end of the year.
