ACV’s first guests return to sunny Cancun

CANCUN — Air Canada Vacations welcomed its first guests back to Cancun last week since the start of the COVID-19 crisis.

After boarding a flight from Toronto Pearson on June 12, guests were greeted at Cancun International Airport with a warm welcome before being transferred to either Catalonia Playa Maroma or Barcelo Maya Palace.

“We’ve all been eagerly awaiting the moment when we could resume our operations and make dreams travel once again. We’re pleased to have been able to welcome our first customers back to Cancun and thank them for their continued trust and loyalty,” said Nino Montagnese, Managing Director at Air Canada Vacations. “While there is still a journey ahead, we’re proud to be bringing back vacations!”

ACV first announced its June schedule last month, which in addition to Cancun includes Varadero, Cayo Coco, Montego Bay, Barbados, Paris, Athens and Barcelona.

In keeping with Air Canada Vacations’ new health and safety protocols, guests and destination representatives wore mandatory face coverings during their transfer to the resort, in a vehicle that allowed for more personal space between passengers. High-touch areas in the vehicle were cleaned before and after the transfer.
