German National Tourist Board launches virtual experiences

TORONTO — The German National Tourist Board (GNTB) has launched a collection of virtual experiences to help travellers explore the destination without leaving their homes.

Using 360-degrees applications and augmented reality the virtual experiences, each region has its own collection of virtual offerings, highlighting the country’s popular destinations as well as its lesser-known attractions.

Baden-Württemberg boasts virtual city walks and a 360-degree flight over the region while Bavaria is offering living room concerts and signature recipes.

Take a virtual trip to Berlin and you’ll have the opportunity to livestream a theatre performance then continue on to Frankfurt to take in an interactive museum tour.

Online visitors can also take 360-tours of one of Europe’s busiest harbours and the world-renowned red-light district Reeperbahn in Hamburg then continue on to North Rhine-Westphalia to enjoy 360-degree views of Aachen cathedral, Cologne cathedral, the castles of Augustusburg and Falkenlust, the Zollverein colliery and Corvey castle.
