Montego Bay’s Half Moon officially opens Eclipse resort

MONTEGO BAY — The doors have opened at Half Moon’s highly anticipated luxury resort, Eclipse at Half Moon.

Located in Montego Bay, just 10 minutes from Sangster International Airport, the resort joins Half Moon’s two existing resort experiences – Founders Cove and Rose Hall Villas. Eclipse has officially opened with 57 new accommodations, an infinity-edge pool, a natural swimming cove, seven bars and restaurants, and an introductory opening offer to celebrate its launch. Clients who book by June 30, 2020 will receive a US$250 resort credit.

The addition of Eclipse at Half Moon creates a triumvirate of accommodation options under the Half Moon brand, which is already rated as Jamaica’s finest property, according to Forbes Travel Guide. Guests can also enjoy two additional distinct resort choices: Founders Cove at Half Moon and Rose Hall Villas at Half Moon, which are located at opposite ends of the 400-acre property.

Accommodations span across three areas: the Great House, where each second-floor room includes large balconies; the signature Great House Suite featuring an open-plan design, two bedrooms, living and dining areas; and Estate Homes, which boast four bedrooms, each with their own private entrance, as well as a butler pantry, great room and indoor/outdoor showers.

Eclipse also features 32 Prestige Ocean Rooms, which are carefully positioned in low-profile Cottages. Featuring beautiful views of the Caribbean Sea, these spacious rooms offer luxurious bathrooms, reading coves, colourful artwork from students of the Edna Manley College of Visual and Performing Arts, and expansive verandas or terraces with daybeds.

For the ultimate in pampered luxury, Fern Tree, A Salamander Spa features two dramatic overwater bungalows for massage treatments and yoga classes. Part of the noted Salamander Spa brand, Fern Tree was designed to seamlessly blend into the resort’s abundant foliage and also features Ital Café, a raw vegan experience.

The two existing resort experiences at Half Moon – Founders Cove and Rose Hall Villas – are distinctly different. The former incorporates the iconic neighbourhoods of Half Moon that were developed by the original owners of the property, and comprises classic cottages centered around Sunset Beach and multiple dining options, including the renowned Cedar Bar. The latter offers 27 villas, available as 5-, 6- and 7-bedroom accommodations, with each featuring a spacious living and dining room, outdoor living space and private pool Each villa also comes with a butler, housekeeper and cook.

Guests of the three resorts can enjoy access to all of Half Moon’s amenities and experiences, including the Robert Trent Jones, Sr.-designed golf course and the Sugar Mill restaurant, consistently rated as Jamaica’s best. Other amenities and facilities include the Half Moon Equestrian Centre, water sports like kayaking, paddleboating and snorkelling, tennis, pickleball, squash, and the expansive Anancy Children’s Village for guests ages three to 12.
