Marriott announces over 30 luxury hotels coming in 2020

BESTHESDA, MD — There’s a lot more luxury coming Marriott’s way next year, with more than 30 upscale properties in the pipeline.

Comprised of the world-renowned brands The Ritz-Carlton, Ritz-Carlton Reserve, St. Regis Hotels & Resorts, W Hotels, The Luxury Collection, EDITION, JW Marriott and Bvlgari, Marriott International has over 420 landmark hotels and resorts in nearly 65 countries and territories. It has more than 185 luxury properties in its signed development pipeline that could add more than 15 new countries and territories to its luxury portfolio, from Iceland to Montenegro and the Philippines.

“Our plan to open more than 30 luxury properties in 2020 – an average of about three exciting new hotels per month – speaks to the remarkable momentum that brands such as St. Regis, The Ritz-Carlton and EDITION have with affluent travellers, our Marriott Bonvoy members and hotel developers around the world,” said Tony Capuano, EVP and Global Chief Development Officer, Marriott International. “Each year, our luxury portfolio continues to grow in both quality and quantity in strategic destinations around the world.”

Here are some brand highlights:

THE RITZ-CARLTON

• The Ritz-Carlton, Perth, the brand’s 100th property, recently opened its doors
• Zadún, a Ritz-Carlton Reserve in Los Cabos, Mexico brings the total number of Ritz-Carlton Reserve properties to four
• In 2020, new Ritz-Carlton properties include: The Ritz-Carlton Rabat, Dar es Salam in Morocco; The Ritz-Carlton, Nikko in Japan, The Ritz-Carlton, Paradise Valley in Scottsdale, Arizona; one property in Mexico City, and another in Nanjing, China

ST. REGIS

• The brand recently celebrated the opening of The St. Regis Venice, home to a magnificent outdoor garden
• Upcoming properties include St. Regis in Cairo, The St. Regis Kanai Resort in Riviera Maya, Mexico, and The St. Regis Dubai, The Palm, coming in 2020

W HOTELS

• This year W Hotels opened in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Muscat, Ibiza and Aspen, the brand’s first alpine destination in the United States
• Multi-million-dollar renovations are underway or have been completed at more than half the brand’s properties in North America, including W Washington D.C. and W San Francisco
• W New York – Union Square is set for a complete transformation
• The brand will soon welcome W Nashville to its portfolio
• 2020 openings include Philadelphia, Toronto, Chengdu and Melbourne
• The brand will also debut the W Milan and W Rome in Italy

EDITION

• The EDITION brand made global news in 2019 with the debuts of The Times Square EDITION in New York and The West Hollywood EDITION in Los Angeles
• Coming in 2020 is an EDITION in Reykjavik
• The brand currently has 10 hotels in six countries and territories, with plans for development in Tokyo and Dubai

THE LUXURY COLLECTION

• This brand currently has 114 hotels in more than 30 countries and territories
• In 2019, the brand celebrated the opening of North Island, Seychelles, its first private island destination, as well as hotels in Cyprus, Nanning, Buckinghamshire, Kolkata and Cesme
• In the pipeline are hotels in Nashville and Budapest, as well as Hobart, Australia

JW MARRIOTT

• The brand’s most recent hotel is the new JW Marriott Maldives Resort & Spa
• It’s expected to reach more than 115 hotels by 2022
• Next year, new U.S. openings will include Savannah, Orlando and Anaheim, as well as global openings in Istanbul, Danang, Nara (Japan), Muscat and Monterrey (Mexico)
