Travel industry’s Healthy Hooters raises $17,000+ for Rexall OneWalk to Conquer Cancer

TORONTO — The travel industry’s Healthy Hooters team collectively raised more than $17,000 for the Rexall OneWalk to Conquer Cancer.

The team took part in the 15km ‘City Nights Walk’ on Sept. 6. The walk started and ended at Liberty Grand on Toronto’s Exhibition Place grounds.

Team leader Dianne Jackson had set a fundraising goal of $16,000. With help from the travel industry, not only did the Healthy Hooters team meet their $16,000 goal, they topped it.

Jackson, appointed Vice President, Retail for Red Label Vacations in June 2019, first started doing the OneWalk with her sister in 2008, back when it was a 60-kilometre trek. A few years later Jackson joined a travel industry team, dubbed ‘The 7 Wonders’. That team did the walk for two years.

In 2016 Jackson was undergoing her own battle against cancer, and she reached out to her travel industry colleagues – including many long-time friends who had walked as part of The 7 Wonders – to form the Healthy Hooters.

This year’s team included Tammy Crane (Sunwing); Annie Cicvaric (Travelweek); Jackson; JC Girard (Softvoyage); Penny Martin (The Travel Agent Next Door); Suzanne Christie; Cheryl Babulal (Ensemble) and Leslie Lorette (AVIS).

The team thanks their family and industry friends for their support and generous donations.
