Exodus enlists artist to give back through brochure designs

TORONTO — Exodus Travels, known for being a leader in responsible tourism, is doing things a bit differently with its 2019-2020 brochure collection.

Being released throughout fall 2018, the new collection features original cover art created by Bosnian and Herzegovinian artist Martina Crepulja, who uses her work to support children through art. As such, Crepulja will donate a portion of her fee to Exodus’ Inspiration Project, an initiative that takes disadvantaged children from around the world on trips within their homelands.

“This year, we really wanted Exodus’ brochures to make a difference, and to have heart,” says Robin Brooks, Marketing Manager. “We wanted to ensure that a portion of the money spent on creating these brochures goes back into the communities we visit – where it can influence real, positive social exchanges.”

Cepulja, a world traveller in her own right, designed the brochures around a ‘make believe’ theme drawn from Exodus destinations like Ha Long Bay in Vietnam, Arenal Volcano in Costa Rica, and Nepal’s Gokyo Lakes.

“Travel is about learning about yourself and your place in the world,” she said. “Kids from challenging backgrounds need to understand that opportunities do exist for them. And the opportunities that the Inspiration Project provides – a greater knowledge of their own country and culture – can help shape them.”

The 2019-2020 brochure collection features over 600 tours to more than 100 countries. Each brochure includes both brand new and all-time favourite adventures, all centering around Exodus’ key travel styles: Adventure, Culture and Wildlife; Cycling; Walking and Trekking; and Self-Guided Adventures.

New for the year are ‘Egypt: Alexandria to Aswan’, cycling adventures like ‘Cycle Chile and Argentina: Atacama to Salta’, trekking trips into Japan’s Kumano Kodo, searching for brown bears in Wild Finland, as well as self-guided tours like ‘A Taste of Tuscany’.
