Beaches Turks & Caicos closed until mid-December

TURKS AND CAICOS — After a thorough assessment of the work that needs to be done, Beaches Resorts Chairman Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart says Beaches Turks & Caicos will be ready to open Dec. 14. The resort took a hit from Hurricane Irma last week.

Stewart delivered the latest update in a Facebook post from Beaches Turks & Caicos.

“Dear Guests, Partners, Family and Friends, it is with tremendous relief and gratitude that I can share with you that our people – our guests and our team at Beaches Turks and Caicos, are safe and well.

“I write this from Turks and Caicos where I am truly humbled by the spirit of community and cooperation that has brought this small but mighty country through the storm. I’m also very impressed with the amount of work we have been able to accomplish in the last three days.

“To my staff at Beaches, led by Managing Director, Don Dagenais and his phenomenal team, thank you for all that you did and continue to do to care for our guests as you care for your families. I have heard the stories and know how you calmed nerves and brought comfort. Your tremendous dedication is the most important reason our guests return. I thank you.

“To our guests, your patience and good humor as we enacted our hurricane protocols was sincerely appreciated. I thank you for your kind words that came in tweets and posts and texts. The airport is now open and the team will assist you in making your way home.

“After a thorough assessment of the work that needs to be done, Beaches Turks and Caicos will be pleased to accept guests beginning Dec.14. The red carpet will be rolled out and Beaches Turks & Caicos will be better than ever.

“We sincerely regret the inconvenience this brings to guests with upcoming holiday plans. We truly understand the importance of your family vacation and we look forward to exceeding your expectations at Beaches Resorts.

“With that said we are happy to re-accommodate your stay at one of our Beaches Resorts located in Jamaica or to any available Sandals Resort, or reschedule your travel dates for Beaches Turks & Caicos. To make arrangements, please call 1-800-BEACHES.

“This has been an extraordinary week for too many people and our thoughts and prayers go to those impacted. We are among the lucky ones and we are counting our blessings. As you continue this week, I hope that you will consider your own good fortune and the family and friends around you that make getting through life’s storms a little easier.

“All that’s good, The Hon. Gordon ‘Butch’ Stewart, OJ, CD, LLD.”
