MONTREAL — Air Canada’s new nonstop Mumbai service is taking wing out of Toronto just a few hours after the airline’s new Algiers service marks its inaugural flight from Montreal.

Starting July 1 the Mumbai route will operate four times weekly out of Toronto on B787-9 Dreamliners, while the Algiers flights, also four times weekly, will fly out of Montreal with Air Canada Rouge on B767-300ERs.

The Mumbai flights are the only nonstops from Canada to India’s largest city. Flight AC046 departs Toronto Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays at 9:35 p.m., arriving in Mumbai the next day at 9:30 p.m. On the return leg, flight AC047 departs Mumbai at 11:30 p.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in Toronto the next day at 5:10 a.m.

This is the only nonstop service between Canada and Mumbai and positions Air Canada as offering the best coverage of any carrier operating between Canada and India.”

With the new Toronto-Mumbai route, Air Canada now offers three Boeing 787 Dreamliner routes between Canada and India, including year-round daily Toronto-Delhi service and seasonal Vancouver-Delhi service, which resumes in October and will be expanded to up to five times weekly this winter from three-times weekly last winter.

The Dreamliners are flying with 30 International Business Class lie-flat suites, 21 Premium Economy and 247 Economy Class seats, with upgraded in-flight entertainment at every seat throughout the aircraft.

With the addition of Algiers, Air Canada is expands its global reach from Montreal, reinforcing Montreal-Trudeau as a strategic hub for all of Eastern Canada and the North-Eastern U.S., said Smith.

Building on Air Canada’s successful Montreal-Casablanca flights now operating on a year-round basis, the service to Algiers will be the only nonstop flight by a Canadian carrier between Montreal and the North African city, he added. It’s Air Canada’s second destination in Africa, making Air Canada one of a small number of global carriers flying to all six inhabited continents.

This new seasonal route will be operated by Air Canada Rouge with a 282-seat B767-300ER aircraft, featuring Economy, Preferred seating offering additional legroom and Premium Rouge with additional personal space and enhanced service.

Flights are timed to optimize connectivity to and from Air Canada’s Montreal hub. Flight AC1920 departs Montreal at 6:50 p.m. Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays, arriving in Algiers the next day at 7:40 a.m. Coming back, flight AC1921 leaves Algiers at 10:10 a.m. on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays, arriving in Montreal at 1:40 p.m.
