Elegant Hotels Group scoops up Treasure Beach in Barbados

MIAMI — Elegant Hotels Group’s acquisition of Treasure Beach marks the brand’s seventh property in Barbados, part of a collection that includes five hotels on the west coast (Waves Hotel & Spa, Crystal Cove, Tamarind, The House and Colony Club) and one on the south coast (Turtle Beach).

Four of the now seven Elegant Hotels Barbados properties account for a continuous 300-metre stretch along the island’s ‘Platinum Coast’. The four-star, 35-room Treasure Beach hotel is in Paynes Bay, next to Elegant Hotels’ Tamarind hotel, which in turn is situated next to Daphne’s and The House, also owned by the Group. Treasure Beach sits on 1.18 acres of land amenities including a swimming pool, spa and restaurant.

Treasure Beach will be operated under the existing brand until the end of July when it will temporarily close. Upon completion of the sales agreement in May and up to the closure date in July, Elegant Hotels will operate the hotel as is. During the closure, it will be refurbished, repositioned and ultimately re-priced before being rebranded as ‘Treasure Beach by Elegant Hotels’. It’s expected to re-open for business at the start of November 2017.

Elegant Hotels Group plans to operate Treasure Beach as an adults-only EP hotel emphasizing a top-notch culinary product. Guests of Treasure Beach will also be able to make use of the facilities of the neighbouring Tamarind hotel.

“We are delighted to be acquiring such an attractive, well-known asset in one of the most desirable locations in Barbados so close to a number of our other sites,” says the company. “We see enormous potential for Treasure Beach, and we are excited about the prospect of creating a resort that will complement our existing portfolio and meet the exacting standards that our guests have come to expect from Elegant Hotels.”

The hotel group’s long-term expansion strategy includes the recent launch of Waves Hotel & Spa by Elegant Hotels in August 2016. The company also announced management and sales and marketing agreements with Hodges Bay Resort & Spa in Antigua, set to open October 2017 along with The Landings Resort & Spa in Saint Lucia.
