Variety Cruises to sail to Iceland starting in June 2017

NEW YORK — Beginning in June 2017, small ship cruise line Variety Cruises will sail into Iceland with a new week-long yacht cruise of the Nordic island nation.

‘Iceland: Journey in the Land of Fire & Ice’ will sail onboard the M/Y Callisto, the newest addition to Variety’s fleet of yachts. A maximum of 35 passengers will discover Iceland’s dramatic volcanic landscape of geysers, hot springs, waterfalls, glaciers and black sand beaches.

On the first day of the program, passengers will take the Ring Road to Godafoss Waterfall before continuing to Lake Myvatn, Namarksard and Dimmuborgir volcanoes. From there, they’ll arrive in the almost-Arctic fishing town of Siglufjordur then to Isafjordur, alarge fishing port in Westfjords, known for its merchant homes that date back to the 18th century.

From Bildudalur, travellers will sail past the majestic Latrarbag cliffs to Borgarnes where they can opt to visit Deildartunguhver, Europe’s most powerful thermal spring, and the Barnafoss Waterfalls. The trip concludes with stops in Reykholt and Heimaey Island, dubbed the ‘Pompei of the North,’ before arriving in the capital city of Reykjavik.

‘Iceland: Journey in the Land of Fire & Ice’ is priced from $2,650-$3,890, depending on cabin class. For more details go to varietycruises.com.
