Egypt airport officials deface Bryan Adams’ guitar

CAIRO — A Cairo airport official should be asking Bryan Adams to ‘Please Forgive Me’ after scrawling customs notations in bright green ink on the rock singer’s vintage 1957 guitar.

“Airport customs graffiti on my 1957 Martin D-18 from Egypt,” wrote Adams on Instagram, alongside a picture of his defaced guitar. An illegible Arabic word and a number are written on the side of the instrument, reports The Guardian.

The Kingston,ON-born rock star was in Egypt for a performance at the Giza pyramids. He posted a Facebook message on Friday, saying, “We almost didn’t get the equipment into the country, and when we did it was all marked like this. There were absolutely no apologies.”

Adams said he nevertheless loves Egypt and looks forward to returning: “But without the green paint markers please.”
