TORONTO — Tully Luxury Travel has a new CEO as its founder steps back from the top role after nearly four decades.
The luxury travel advisory firm announced that Steven Salm, who joined Tully last year as Chief Operating Officer, will succeed Mary Jean Tully as Chief Executive Officer. Mary Jean Tully will continue to be involved with the company as Brand Ambassador.
As CEO, Salm will oversee day-to-day operations and lead the company’s growth. Calling it a privilege to take on the role, he reflected on what it takes to create exceptional travel experiences.
“It demands vision, craftsmanship and an unwavering attention to detail. Travel is one of the most meaningful parts of people’s lives, and at its best it brings desire, emotion, and expertise together in a single trusted relationship,” he said.
The appointment was made by Clive Jacobs, Tully’s Executive Chairman and majority shareholder, who will work closely with Salm on the company’s long-term strategy and next phase of growth.
Salm has also acquired Mary Jean Tully’s remaining shareholding, joining Jacobs as an owner of the business.
“Steven has proven in a short time that he is exactly the leader this company needs for its next chapter,” said Jacobs. “He brings a rare combination of entrepreneurial vision, operational expertise and a deep understanding of luxury hospitality, making him exceptionally well suited to lead Tully forward.”
Mary Jean Tully, who founded the company nearly 40 years ago, said she was confident in Salm’s ability to carry its legacy forward.
“I’m enormously proud of what we’ve built over nearly four decades,” she added. “I’ve known Steven for many years and have tremendous confidence in his leadership. He understands what makes Tully special and shares the values and commitment to excellence on which this company was founded. He will honour and build upon that legacy while taking great care of our people, our clients and the relationships we’ve nurtured.”
