TORONTO — G Adventures is putting eight destinations on Canadian travellers’ radar for 2027, from China and Egypt to the lesser-explored corners of the Western Balkans and northern Greece.
The tour operator’s latest destinations-to-watch list highlights places gaining popularity, becoming more accessible or offering special reasons to visit next year. Its itineraries aim to take travellers beyond the main attractions through locally led experiences, community tourism and opportunities to support local businesses.
China is seeing a surge in interest, with Canadian bookings up 163% year over year, according to G Adventures. The company has added nine itineraries to meet demand, including a 19-day Signature: China From the Great Wall to Shangri-La journey that explores Silk Road history, desert landscapes and the Mogao Grottoes.
Egypt is also gaining momentum, with Canadian bookings up 106% year over year. A total solar eclipse above Luxor in August 2027 is expected to add to the destination’s appeal. G Adventures’ nine-day Solo-ish Egypt itinerary includes a Cairo street food tour, lunch at a female-led community project near Giza and a visit to a Nubian village along the Nile.
Interest in Central Asia is growing, too. Canadian bookings to Uzbekistan have increased 66%, while Kyrgyzstan has seen a 29% rise. G Adventures’ 26-day The Stans: The Ultimate Adventure through the Silk Road itinerary takes travellers through Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan, with experiences including yurt building with local artisans, a Dungan family lunch and a hike in Tajikistan’s Fan Mountains.
Norway is another destination to watch, with Canadian travellers booking trips up 23% year over year. G Adventures points to growing interest in Nordic travel, northern lights viewing opportunities and new nonstop flights between Toronto and Oslo. Its Norway Fjord Trekking itinerary includes a guided trek across Folgefonna Glacier and a hike to Trolltunga for views above Lake Ringedalsvatnet.
In the Seychelles, the company is highlighting active, sustainable ways to explore the islands ahead of the country’s 2028 national roadmap. A new eight-day Geluxe itinerary, Seychelles: Vallée de Mai, Curieuse Island & Shores of Anse Lazio, combines island-hopping across Mahé, Praslin and La Digue with hiking, kayaking and catamaran excursions.
Vietnam is expected to become more accessible to Canadians following an expanded air transport agreement announced by the Government of Canada. G Adventures offers more than 60 trips in the country, including 15 new itineraries. Its 16-day Classic Vietnam: Sapa to the Mekong journey features treks through the northern highlands, traditional wax-dyeing workshops with Hmong and Red Dao communities, and visits to local food enterprises.

The Western Balkans are also attracting more Canadian travellers, with bookings to Albania up 117% and Bosnia and Herzegovina up 83% over the past year. A nine-day Hiking in Albania, Kosovo & Montenegro itinerary features alpine trekking, a visit to Peja’s traditional bazaar and stays in family-run mountain guesthouses.
Rounding out the list is Greece, where Mount Olympus was added to the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2026. G Adventures is introducing five new trips in the country, including the Hiking Northern Greece itinerary that explores northern Greece’s mountains, forests and traditional villages beyond its better-known islands.
