TORONTO — Sunwing Vacations Group’s Deana Murphy, VP, Trade Sales and Business Development, says she plans to retire effective Oct. 16.

Her announcement comes after 24 years with Sunwing, and a 40 year career in the travel industry.

“I am proud and honoured to have been part of the Sunwing family since its inception in 2002, and it has been a privilege to lead such a talented and dedicated sales team,” said Murphy.

The company noted that Murphy has been an integral part of Sunwing since its early days, joining the company in 2002 and playing a key role in building and strengthening the company’s relationships with the Canadian travel trade.

Marek Andryszak, President, Sunwing Vacations Group, said that under Murphy’s leadership, Sunwing Vacations Group’s Sales Team has continued to evolve while maintaining a strong focus on supporting valued agency partners and helping travel advisors grow their businesses.

“Deana has built incredibly strong and trusted relationships with the agent and trade communities throughout her career with Sunwing,” said Andryszak. “Her dedication and commitment helped build the foundation that has allowed Sunwing to connect with millions of Canadian vacation customers. The impact of her leadership and contributions has been felt across our organization and throughout the travel industry. We sincerely thank her for her extraordinary service and wish her all the very best in her retirement.”

The company said the process to fill Murphy’s role will begin soon, with the position expected to be posted in the coming days. Additional information will be shared once a successful candidate has been selected.
