LONDON, ONT. — Porter Airlines is launching service from London International Airport for the first time, with four seasonal nonstop routes to Florida, Jamaica and Mexico beginning this winter.

Starting in November, Porter will connect London with Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, followed by Cancun and Montego Bay in December.

The airline is also planning a broader year-round domestic schedule from London in 2027, with additional Canadian destinations expected to connect Southwestern Ontario with Porter’s network.

“The introduction of Porter service at YXU will benefit more than two million people in the Greater London area who can now fly from their local airport,” said Michael Deluce, CEO, Porter Airlines. “Travellers throughout the region deserve seamless, elevated travel options closer to home. The combination of southern and domestic flights is an opportunity to introduce them to Porter’s award-winning passenger experience, delivered with genuine care and hospitality.”

In a statement to Travelweek, Deluce said London has been on Porter’s radar for some time as a strategically underserved market.

“More than two million residents across Southwestern Ontario currently have to leave the region to reach an airport offering the routes they want. That’s a significant, established base of travellers so we are giving them the option to do it closer to home,” he said.

Deluce added that Porter’s two decades of building brand awareness in Ontario gives the airline confidence that the market can support both the initial leisure routes and its planned domestic expansion.

“We are not entering this market cold. We know there’s demand for our style of elevated economy travel, and we’re confident the combination of leisure routes this winter and a broader domestic network in 2027 will resonate with travellers who’ve been underserved for years,” he added.

WINTER SUN SERVICE

Porter’s London-Fort Lauderdale service will launch Nov. 18 and operate up to 4x/weekly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.

Flights between London and Orlando will begin Nov. 19, operating 3x/weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.

Service to Cancun starts Dec. 17 and will operate up to 4x/weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays.

London-Montego Bay flights will launch Dec. 18 with twice-weekly service on Mondays and Fridays.

THE GROWTH PLAN

Deluce told Travelweek that YXU is expected to play a growing role within Porter’s broader network.

“YXU is a strategic part of our overall growth plan, alongside the continued expansion we’re driving in the GTHA, Ottawa and Montreal,” he said. “London’s role in our network will grow as we introduce domestic service next year. It’s a market where we intend to keep expanding.”

Porter has not yet revealed which Canadian destinations will be part of the 2027 schedule.

“We’re still finalizing the specific destinations and schedule for our domestic network, and we’ll share those details later in the year,” Deluce told Travelweek. “What we can say is that it will be a year-round schedule connecting London to locations across Canada.”

THE NEW EMBRAER

All four winter routes will be operated with Porter’s new 132-seat Embraer E195-E2 aircraft, featuring a two-by-two configuration with no middle seats. Porter’s economy experience includes complimentary beer and wine served in glassware, premium snacks and free, fast WiFi.

Passengers booking PorterReserve receive an all-inclusive onboard experience that includes fresh meals and premium cocktails on longer flights, extra-legroom seating at the front of the cabin, dedicated check-in and boarding and two checked bags.

PorterClassic fares allow travellers to add many of those perks à la carte.
