CALGARY AND QUEBEC CITY — American Airlines is expanding its Canadian network with new seasonal service from Calgary and Quebec City to New York’s John F. Kennedy International Airport, giving travellers in both markets another option for connections across the U.S. and beyond.

The new routes are part of American’s expanded Canada schedule during a milestone year for the airline, which is celebrating 85 years of service in Canada.

NEW CALGARY–JFK SERVICE

American launched seasonal service between Calgary International Airport and JFK on Aug. 6. The route operates three times weekly on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Sundays through Oct. 4.

The flights are operated with Boeing 737 aircraft with capacity for 172 customers.

The new JFK service complements American’s existing Saturday service between Calgary and New York’s LaGuardia Airport, as well as flights from Calgary to American hubs including Chicago, Charlotte and Dallas Fort Worth.

The JFK-Calgary service departs New York at 9:29 a.m., arriving in Calgary at 2:16 p.m. The return flight departs Calgary at 3:37 p.m. and arrives at JFK at 9 p.m. All times are local and schedules are subject to change.

QUEBEC CITY GETS DAILY JFK FLIGHTS 

American also launched daily seasonal service between Quebec City Jean Lesage International Airport and JFK on Aug. 5. The service operates through Oct. 31 using Embraer 175 aircraft with capacity for 76 customers.

American says it is the only U.S. airline to offer nonstop service between Quebec City and JFK.

The new route complements existing American service from Quebec City to several of the airline’s hubs, including Philadelphia, Chicago, Charlotte and Dallas Fort Worth.

The JFK-Quebec City flight departs New York at 11 a.m. and arrives in Quebec City at 12:44 p.m. The return flight departs Quebec City at 1:26 p.m. and arrives at JFK at 3:30 p.m.

American’s JFK hub offers more than 600 weekly flights to over 40 destinations worldwide. International destinations include Edinburgh, Buenos Aires, São Paulo and New Delhi, while U.S. connections include Miami, Los Angeles and Dallas Fort Worth.

85 YEARS IN CANADA

American’s history in Canada dates back to June 24, 1941, when the airline operated its first Canadian flight between Buffalo, New York and Toronto aboard a DC-3.

Today, the airline serves six Canadian destinations: Toronto, Montreal, Vancouver, Calgary, Quebec City and Halifax.

During the peak summer travel season, American is offering up to 61 daily departures from Canada to the United States. The schedule includes up to 28 daily flights from Toronto, 11 from Montreal, seven from Vancouver and six each from Calgary, Halifax and Quebec City.
