TORONTO — Travel advisor Gloria Nadeau scored a home run of a prize trip to Washington DC, courtesy of Destination DC – and now two more travel advisors have a chance to win hundreds of dollars in gift cards.
Destination DC tells Travelweek it’s giving away one Cdn$250 gift voucher each to two Canadian travel advisors who complete its Washington DC Special Agent Academy program.
The new incentive kicks off today, July 13. Travel advisors who complete the training between now and Aug. 13 are eligible to win.
The news comes as Nadeau, a travel advisor with Uniglobe Bon Voyage Travel in Toronto, gets ready to experience the phenomenal popularity of sports travel first-hand. Her VIP prize trip to Washington DC to see the Toronto Blue Jays take on the Washington Nationals is happening in just a couple of weeks, with the game scheduled for July 29.
Nadeau completed the Washington DC Special Agent Academy program by June 30 and was the grand prize winner for that contest.
What’s she most excited about? The Jays v. Nationals game, naturally.
But not just that: “The geography, history and culinary identity that Washington DC has to offer, too,” she tells Travelweek.
Nadeau’s prize package also includes roundtrip flights, three nights accommodation and tickets to some of DC’s top attractions. At the game, her VIP prize experience includes seats behind home plate, all-inclusive food and alcoholic beverages, a pre-game restaurant experience and indoor lounge access.
Designed to increase engagement, deepen destination knowledge and drive visitation, the Washington DC Special Agent Academy program was created to equip advisors with the tools they need to become experts in the U.S. capital.
Through three core missions, travel advisors discover 100+ free things to do in Washington, DC; the city’s most vibrant and authentic neighbourhoods; and iconic landmarks, must-see attractions, cultural events, and unique experiences – all of which make Washington, DC a year-round destination for visitors.
Many of the city’s top attractions, including the National Mall, home to the monuments and memorials and all 17 Smithsonian Museums are free to visit, making Washington, DC an attractive option for both group tours and FIT travellers seeking strong value. Washington, DC also has many opportunities for multi-night itineraries, educational travel and themed experiences ranging from history and politics to arts, food and seasonal events. Strong lift plus rail and road connectivity also make the city easy to get to and to package with nearby destinations.
Nadeau tells Travelweek the Washington DC Special Agent Academy was helpful, and informative. What was her biggest takeaway from the course? “It’s just one and half hours flying time from Toronto to DCA with Air Canada / United Airlines,” says Nadeau.
