DUBAI — Dubai is welcoming Canada’s decision to lower its travel advisory for the destination, saying the move will help restore confidence among Canadian travellers.
As previously reported by Travelweek, the Canadian government updated its travel advice for the United Arab Emirates last week, de-escalating it from an Orange-level warning (Level 3, avoid all-non-essential travel) to Yellow (Level 2, exercise a high degree of caution).
The Dubai Department of Economy and Tourism (DET) said the city remains open, with hotels, attractions, restaurants, retail venues and other tourism experiences continuing to operate.
According to DET, Dubai International Airport (DXB) has remained operational throughout recent regional developments. Emirates is currently operating 97% of its global network, serving 138 destinations across 73 countries, while Dubai Airports and its airline partners continue working to restore capacity and connectivity.
“Recent announcements reflect the positive progress we are seeing across the region. Over the past few months, we recognize that many visitors have been waiting for clarity before making their travel plans,” said Issam Kazim, CEO of the Dubai Corporation for Tourism and Commerce Marketing (Visit Dubai), part of DET.
“For us in Dubai, the safety of our residents and visitors has remained, and will always be, our highest priority. Hotels, attractions, restaurants, retail destinations and transport networks have continued to operate, underpinned by close coordination across the public and private sectors.
“With connectivity continuing to strengthen and a full calendar of events, exhibitions and new openings ahead, we look forward to welcoming Canadians to discover, or rediscover, the warm hospitality and experiences our city is known for. Dubai is moving forward with confidence, and we are grateful for the continued trust and support of our partners and visitors.”
DET also highlighted several new and upcoming tourism developments across the destination, including the recently opened 20,000-square-metre Grand Hyatt Dubai Waterpark, the transformed Lost World Aquarium at Atlantis, The Palm and upgrades to Khor Al Mamzar Beach, which now features a floating walkway, a 24-hour night beach and 5.5 kilometres of walking, running and cycling trails.
Additional hotel openings planned for later this year include the first Dubai properties from Six Senses, Gran Meliá and Kimpton, along with the UAE’s first Baccarat Hotel and Residences.
Dubai will also host Arabian Travel Market from Sept. 14-17, bringing together destinations, tourism businesses and industry leaders for one of the city’s largest travel trade events.
For Canadian travellers, Emirates continues to operate daily nonstop service between Dubai and both Toronto and Montreal. The airline is also offering a complimentary stay of up to two nights at the JW Marriott Marquis Hotel Dubai for travellers who book through Emirates by July 12 for travel completed by Sept. 30, 2026.
In addition, guests staying at Atlantis, The Palm or Atlantis, The Royal can receive resort credit equivalent to the value of their Emirates travel insurance premium, redeemable on dining, wellness and entertainment experiences during stays through Sept. 30, 2026.
