HONFLEUR — CroisiEurope’s MS Botticelli suffered a fire in the early morning hours of June 29, forcing an evacuation but with no reported injuries.

The 132-passenger river cruise ship was docked in the French port of Honfleur.

The fire is believed to have started in the ship’s galley. According to France 3, passengers raised the alarm in the middle of the night after being awoken by smoke.

According to CroisiEurope, all passengers were immediately taken care of by local authorities.

“Our teams then arranged hotel accommodations for the passengers, as well as transportation back to their respective homes,” the cruise line said in a statement.

CroisiEurope also praised the dedication, professionalism and composure of the crew, who assisted passengers calmly and efficiently throughout the incident.

“We also extend our sincerest thanks to the emergency services, the City of Honfleur, the Prefecture, UNASS, the French Red Cross and everyone mobilized on site for their prompt response and invaluable support,” said CroisiEurope.
