Advisors explore Iceland’s Westfjords on ACTA and Aurora Expeditions’ immersive voyage

TORONTO — ACTA and Aurora Expeditions recently partnered to give Canadian travel advisors an immersive introduction to expedition cruising, hosting 26 advisors on a seven-day educational voyage through Iceland’s remote Westfjords region.

Sailing aboard the M/V Sylvia Earle, participants explored Iceland’s dramatic fjords, volcanic landscapes and coastal wilderness while taking part in a range of expedition-style activities. Advisors experienced Zodiac wet landings, guided hikes through lava fields and walks along rugged coastal trails, gaining insight into the type of experiences available to adventure-minded travellers.

“This was my first expedition cruise, and I wasn’t sure if it would be for me. I ended up loving every minute of it,” said Laura Tempan, CTC, Sun Touch Travel. “The experience gave me a whole new appreciation for what expedition travel is all about, and I now feel much more confident introducing clients to expedition cruising and inspiring them to explore incredible destinations like Iceland.”

According to ACTA, immersive learning opportunities such as the Iceland sailing form an important part of the association’s ongoing commitment to member education and professional development. By experiencing destinations and travel products firsthand, advisors are better positioned to provide informed recommendations and deliver greater value to clients.
