American Airlines names Torri as Director of Operations, Mexico and Canada

FORT WORTH — American Airlines has named Paola Torri as Director of Operations for Mexico and Canada, a new leadership role the airline said it created to support the continued growth and strength of operations across two of its most important international markets.

Torri steps into the role as part of a broader leadership evolution across the region, building on the strong foundation established by the late Tony Gutiérrez and José María Giraldo, who has since transitioned into a key leadership role in the U.S.

Paola brings more than 25 years of experience at American Airlines. Most recently, she served as People Business Partner for International, based in Mexico City, supporting teams across Canada, Latin America, the Caribbean and the U.S. She will continue to be based in Mexico City, reporting to José A. Freig, VP International and Inflight Dining Operations.

“I’m honoured to step into this new role and to continue building on the strong foundation our teams have created across Mexico and Canada,” said Torri. “Throughout my career at American, I’ve seen firsthand the dedication and talent of our people, and I’m excited to work alongside them to continue strengthening our operation, enhancing reliability, and delivering the exceptional service our customers expect.”

In Canada, the airline will operate more than 390 weekly flights this summer, while continuing to expand with new service between Calgary (YYC) and New York (JFK), complementing its existing LaGuardia (LGA) operation.
