New WestJet–Air Serbia agreement boosts connectivity via Toronto

CALGARY — WestJet and Air Serbia are teaming up to improve connectivity between Europe and Canada.

The two airlines have signed a special Special Prorate Agreement (SPA) that will provide passengers with access to an expanded network of destinations across both carriers, making it easier to plan and book connecting itineraries.

Through Air Serbia’s direct flights between Belgrade and Toronto, travellers will be able to connect to a number of Canadian destinations served by WestJet, including Ottawa, Montreal, Halifax, Winnipeg, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver.

The airlines say the partnership will offer greater flexibility, increased destination options, an improved customer experience and a simplified booking process for connecting flights.

“We are pleased to welcome Air Serbia as our newest interline partner,” said John Weatherill, WestJet Group Executive Vice-President and Chief Commercial Officer. “WestJet and Air Serbia are making it easier for travellers to explore more of Canada with confidence and convenience. With a significant diaspora across Canada, we look forward to welcoming Serbs across our network via Toronto Pearson, helping more travellers reach the people and places that matter most.”

Jiří Marek, CEO of Air Serbia, added: “Cooperation with WestJet is an important step forward in further expansion of our presence on the North American market. With this partnership, we offer an ever-wider choice of destinations across Canada to our passengers, with easier and more efficient connections via Toronto.”
