CANCUN — Dominating the Hotel Zone with its 14 storeys, the JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa also distinguishes itself by its rejection of the all-inclusive model.

Opened in 2001 and completely renovated in 2019, this 447-room hotel (including 74 suites) focuses on tranquility and a high-end, à la carte experience.
Whether for business travellers, families or gourmets, the hotel offers a rare freedom in Cancun: the opportunity to discover local culture without being confined to the resort.
NATURE & WELLNESS
“It’s a challenge in a market dominated by all-inclusive resorts, but our guests are precisely looking for this independence,” explains Juan Carlos Calderon, General Manager of the JW Marriott Cancun Resort & Spa.
“They explore the jungle in Coba or the pyramids of Chichen Itza before returning to relax with us.”
For moments of relaxation, the hotel has a 200-metre white sand beach and a magnificent swimming pool with ocean views, where there is a children’s area.
The resort also houses a wellness sanctuary inspired by Mayan traditions: a spa with 17 treatment rooms coupled with a vast indoor pool, where we experienced a most soothing morning sound therapy session
During our stay at the JW Marriott, we also discovered the hotel’s refined cuisine, from the exotic flavours of Sasi Thai to the Iberian accents of Bravio, not forgetting the Italian excellence of Gustino, enhanced by chef Juan Pedro Maldonado.
“Unlike all-inclusive buffets, we prioritize healthy, à la carte cuisine,” says Calderon. The establishment even cultivates its own garden between land and sea. “Producing our own spices is ingrained in JW’s DNA. ”
This expertise was also celebrated during the 25th anniversary of the property, at a garden party on the beach bringing together distinguished guests, including the Secretary of Tourism of Cancun, Juan Pablo de Zulueta.

ROMANCE & ESCAPISM
Unlike the JW Marriott, the Almare has opted for an all-inclusive approach, without giving up its own identity.
Joining Marriott International’s prestigious Luxury Collection at the end of 2024, this upscale establishment cultivates a unique atmosphere. Nestled on the stunning Isla Mujeres, it offers an ideal setting for disconnecting and enjoying privacy. This 109-room boutique hotel, reserved for adults, is particularly appealing to couples seeking romance and escape.
Easily accessible, about 20 minutes by boat from Cancun, the Almare stands out both for the quality of its services and its openness to local culture. The all-inclusive package notably offers a guided morning excursion to the southern tip of the island to see the first rays of sunlight illuminate the statue of Ixchel, the Mayan goddess of fertility, abundance and love.
“Isla Mujeres offers a very safe environment and we encourage our guests to leave the hotel walls to better connect with the island’s inhabitants and their history,” says Cristobal Perez, head of activities at the Almare.
Another very popular outing is to rent a golf cart to reach the northern tip of the island . This is where the famous Playa Norte unfolds, regularly ranked among the most beautiful beaches in the world, offering an unforgettable spectacle at sunset.

PALM TREES & LOCAL FLAVOURS
Just a 20 minute drive from the lively bars and souvenir shops of northern Isla Mujeres, Almare stands out as a haven of tranquility.
Here, time slows down between swims, spa breaks, hydrotherapy sessions and naps in the shade of the palm trees lining the beach. The highlight of the day is experienced on the rooftop terrace, where an infinity pool embraces the Cancun horizon.

At the table, Almare invites you on a true journey through local flavors, from Tikin Xic fish fillet to subtly spiced shrimp tacos. You can easily move from one atmosphere to another, from the relaxed atmosphere of the food truck for a snack with your toes in the sand, to the refined elegance of the BOGA restaurant in the evening. A gourmet demonstration that all-inclusive can also be synonymous with high standards and sophistication!
