MONTREAL — Air Canada is expanding its reach into Türkiye through a new partnership with Pegasus Airlines that will provide customers with more seamless access to Istanbul and Izmir.
The agreement introduces a new interline arrangement between the two carriers, enabling Air Canada customers to book travel on nine Pegasus-operated routes. The partnership offers onward connections via several of Air Canada’s major European gateways, strengthening the airline’s presence in a growing and strategically important market.
Through the agreement, travellers flying to Air Canada’s European gateways – Amsterdam, Frankfurt, Copenhagen, Munich, Geneva, Vienna, Zurich and Athens – will be able to connect onward to Istanbul Sabiha Gökçen International Airport. In addition, travellers transiting through Frankfurt will have access to Izmir Adnan Menderes Airport on Türkiye’s Aegean coast.
The expanded options are designed to offer greater flexibility and convenience, including the ability to travel on a single itinerary with through-checked baggage to the final destination.
“Air Canada’s strategy is built on connecting people, markets, and opportunities around the world,” said Mary-Jane Lorette, Vice President, Revenue Management, Partnerships and International Affairs at Air Canada. “Our partnership with Pegasus Airlines expands our reach into Türkiye, offering customers more ways to explore one of the world’s most dynamic regions while reinforcing our role as a leading global airline.”
Pegasus Airlines also emphasized the strategic importance of the new arrangement.
“We are pleased to partner with Air Canada to strengthen connectivity between Canada and Türkiye. This interline agreement will provide travellers with convenient access to Istanbul and İzmir via key European gateways, enhancing flexibility and ease of travel. We look forward to developing this partnership further as we continue expanding our international network,” said Onur Dedeköylü, Chief Commercial Officer at Pegasus Airlines.
In addition to the current interline benefits, both carriers indicated they intend to deepen cooperation over time. Plans under consideration include expanding the arrangement into a full codeshare agreement, which would introduce reciprocal loyalty program benefits and broader collaboration across the two airlines’ international networks.
