Nexion sees 20% surge in interest from new-to-industry agents

TORONTO — Host agency Nexion Travel Group is reporting a 20% increase in interest from new-to-industry agents looking for a career in travel.

“People are looking for careers that offer flexibility, purpose and growth, and travel advisor delivers on all three,” said Jackie Friedman, CTC, CTIE, President of Nexion Travel Group. “We’re seeing strong interest from career changers and entrepreneurs who want more control over their work while helping clients create meaningful travel experiences.”

Friedman noted that LinkedIn’s ‘Jobs on the Rise 2026’ report ranks travel advisor as #18 nationwide in the U.S.

Kevin Lapointe, one of Nexion Canada’s Rising Stars awardees, was asked why he got into the business. “I have always been passionate about travel, particularly all-inclusive experiences in Mexico and the Caribbean,” said Lapointe. “Over time, I became the go-to resource for family and friends seeking guidance on choosing the right resort. This naturally led me to pursue my interest more formally by becoming a Travel Advisor and turning it into a side business. Since joining Nexion Canada, I have experienced great success, thanks to the comprehensive tools and resources provided by Nexion, combined with my dedication to helping others discover their ideal vacation.”

Another recent survey, this time polling Nexion travel advisors, indicates that 88% of respondents would recommend a career as a travel advisor, while 83% are optimistic or very optimistic about the industry’s future.

“These are not the travel agents of decades past. Modern travel advisors are trusted consultants and entrepreneurs, and host agencies like Nexion provide the foundation to succeed,” said Friedman.
