NEW YORK — Lufthansa Group has announced a new collaboration with Starlink that will see high-speed broadband internet installed across its entire fleet.
From 2026 onward, all of Lufthansa Group’s approximately 850 aircraft will be equipped with the satellite-based connectivity system, including both existing aircraft and future deliveries.
In the near future, the new service will support higher bandwidth and faster speeds, enabling streaming, cloud-based work and other high-speed applications during flight. Lufthansa Group says the internet service will be available free of charge to all status customers and Travel ID users across every travel class.
With this rollout, Lufthansa Group will become the largest airline group in Europe to introduce Starlink connectivity across its fleet, with no other airline equipping more aircraft with the technology. The partnership forms part of the group’s broader investment strategy, which includes new aircraft deliveries and premium product and service enhancements across the entire travel journey.
“In our anniversary year, in which we are celebrating Lufthansa’s 100th birthday, we have decided to introduce a new high-speed internet solution from Starlink for all our airlines. The Lufthansa Group is taking the next step and setting an essential milestone for the premium travel experience of our customers. Connectivity on board plays an important role today, and with Starlink, we are not only investing in the best product on the market, but also in the satisfaction of our passengers,” said Dieter Vranckx, Chief Commercial Officer of the Lufthansa Group.
The installation of Starlink technology will begin in the second half of 2026, with the full fleet expected to be equipped by 2029. Lufthansa Group says additional details about the rollout will be shared later this year.
