Air Transat expands South America reach through new GOL partnership

MONTREAL — Air Transat has announced a new interline partnership with Brazil’s GOL Airlines, a move that will broaden travel options for Canadians heading to South America.

The agreement will give Air Transat customers access to an expanded network of domestic and international routes beyond Rio de Janeiro Galeão International Airport.

Under the partnership, travellers flying to Rio with Air Transat will be able to connect to GOL’s network of 65 domestic and 17 international destinations. Major Brazilian cities served through GOL include Sao Paulo, Porto Alegre, Recife, Salvador et Belo Horizonte.

“We are thrilled to partner with GOL to make it easier than ever for Canadians to explore Brazil and beyond,” said Sebastian Ponce, Chief Revenue Officer at Transat. “This partnership strengthens our presence in South America and expands our network in a way that perfectly complements our new non-stop service to Rio de Janeiro.”

The timing aligns with Air Transat’s upcoming launch of its first non-stop flights to Rio de Janeiro. Service from Toronto begins Feb. 4, 2026, with two flights per week, followed by weekly service from Montreal starting Feb. 5, 2026.

The partnership takes effect immediately, with flights available for booking in the coming days.
