Air Canada and Emirates extend partnership through 2032 with expanded benefits

MONTREAL — Air Canada and Emirates are set to strengthen their global alliance with a new multi-year agreement extending their partnership through Dec. 31, 2032.

The expanded deal follows strong results from the first three years of partnership, which has already connected more than 550,000 travellers across 56 codeshare routes linking Canada, the United States, Dubai and destinations around the world.

“Air Canada’s partnership with Emirates has been highly successful, and we are proud to renew it early, expanding its scope and extending its duration through 2032,” said Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President & Chief Commercial Officer and President, Cargo at Air Canada. “This agreement strengthens our international strategy by supporting our daily, year-round service between Toronto and Dubai and providing customers and shippers seamless connections to destinations across the Indian subcontinent, the Middle East and Southeast Asia.”

The renewed partnership will grow beyond passenger traffic, expanding cargo cooperation to support trade flows between the Americas, the Middle East and Indian subcontinent. The airlines are also exploring a potential joint venture focused on cargo operations to help streamline global shipments.

Emirates says the extended cooperation will further enhance connectivity between both airlines and ensure a seamless move of operations to Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International Airport (DWC), coming after 2032. The partnership has expanded steadily since 2022 and now includes 37 destinations in Canada and the United States accessible to Emirates passengers under the codeshare, including recently added services such as Toronto to Minneapolis, Montreal to Calgary, and Vancouver to Los Angeles. Air Canada also places its code on 19 Emirates routes to the Indian subcontinent, Middle East and Southeast Asia. Overall, the carriers’ codeshare and interline agreements now offer access to more than 225 destinations worldwide.

Since the initial agreement in November 2022, Air Canada relocated its Dubai operation to Dubai International’s flagship Terminal 3, providing eligible Air Canada customers to access Emirates’ Business Class Lounges and other facilities prior to their flight. The two airlines also offer frequent flyer members joint loyalty program benefits and have plans to reciprocally expand redemptions to each other’s Premium Economy cabins.

Air Canada currently operates daily Boeing 787 Dreamliner service between Toronto and Dubai. Emirates operates daily A380 service between Dubai and Toronto, as well as seven weekly Boeing 777 flights between Dubai and Montreal.
