Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun

Iberostar expands in Mexico with new Riviera Cancun resort

RIVIERA MAYA — Iberostar Hotels & Resorts has officially opened Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun, a new five-star all-inclusive resort in the Riviera Maya.

Located just 20 minutes from Cancun International Airport and close to Puerto Morelos, the property began welcoming guests on Nov. 1, marking the company’s 12th hotel in Mexico.

The new resort features 444 suites, each equipped with a jacuzzi. Accommodation options include family rooms, swim-up suites with direct semi-private pool access, and oceanfront suites with panoramic views of the Caribbean Sea.

Dining at Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun highlights the region’s culinary diversity. Guests can enjoy an international buffet and a wood-fired pizzeria, along with four specialty restaurants – L’Oliveto for Italian cuisine, Nopal serving Mexican dishes, a Caribbean seafood venue, and Martinete offering Spanish specialties. The resort also includes six bars, three of which are swim-up, and a Star Café.

Phil Mc Aveety, CEO of Iberostar Hotels & Resorts, stated: “We are pleased to strengthen Iberostar’s presence in Mexico, a key destination in our international growth strategy. This new project reflects our commitment to excellence and to creating unique experiences for every guest. It also reaffirms our dedication to developing local talent, promoting a model of responsible tourism that generates long-lasting value for communities, destinations and the industry.”

Part of the Iberostar Selection category, the resort caters to both families and couples seeking a high level of comfort with a relaxed, beachfront atmosphere. Its location offers convenient access to natural attractions such as the Great Mayan Reef and the Route of the Cenotes, making it an ideal base for exploring the region.

COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABLE GROWTH

With the addition of Iberostar Selection Riviera Cancun, the company now manages 4,400 rooms in Mexico and employs more than 5,800 people nationwide. The new property is expected to create around 650 jobs, contributing to local economic growth.

As part of its broader sustainability strategy, Iberostar implemented extensive training for all resort staff in the months leading up to the opening. The program introduced team members to the company’s values, service standards and responsible tourism philosophy.

Aligned with Iberostar’s Wave of Change movement, the property is designed to operate without single-use plastics in the guest experience and includes purified drinking water stations and responsibly sourced seafood. A dedicated 3R Team will oversee waste sorting and recycling initiatives to help achieve the company’s goal of sending zero waste to landfill.
