TORONTO — Air Transat has launched its inaugural flight from Toronto to Medellín, Colombia, via Cartagena, marking a key milestone in the airline’s expansion in South America.
Flight TS158 departed Toronto Pearson International Airport on Nov. 1, beginning a twice-weekly, year-round service connecting Canadians to two of Colombia’s most dynamic cities.
“With this inaugural flight to Medellín, Air Transat is opening a new chapter in its expansion in Latin America,” said Sebastian Ponce, Transat’s Chief Revenue Officer. “This unprecedented route perfectly illustrates our ambition to broaden the horizons of Canadian travellers and once again demonstrates Air Transat’s innovation and pioneering role in leisure travel.”
The new Toronto-Cartagena-Medellín service increases Air Transat’s winter flight frequency to Cartagena and introduces year-round operations for the route. Starting in summer 2026, a similar service will operate from Montreal (YUL), extending the existing Montreal-Cartagena flight to Medellín and making it available year-round.
Kurush Minocher, Interim Chief Commercial Officer at Toronto Pearson, highlighted the significance of the new route. “We’re excited to see Air Transat launch this new service connecting Toronto to Medellín via Cartagena. With more than 40,000 passengers travelling between Toronto and Medellín in 2024, this route opens one of the largest untapped travel markets in South America from Toronto Pearson,” he said. “It gives travellers more choice, strengthens connections between Canada and Colombia, and highlights Pearson’s role as a gateway to growing international destinations.”
The route is operated with the Airbus A321LR, an aircraft known for its efficiency and passenger comfort. Both Economy and Club Class cabins feature ergonomic seating, a modern inflight entertainment system, and Air Transat’s signature service, ensuring a comfortable journey from takeoff to landing.
